Brock Dance is a student run Brock University club ratified by the Brock University Student Union. The club strives to increase knowledge and appreciation of various dance disciplines amongst members and the Brock University community. Through our club activities we aim to develop dance technique, artistry, creativity, teamwork, leadership skills, and self-discipline amongst members. The club is a community for those interested in dance and provides opportunities for its members to make strong social bonds through dance activity that will improve their university experience at Brock.

The club runs dance classes ranging from beginner to advanced levels in jazz, tap, lyrical, ballet, and hip hop. The club also offers modern, Irish dance, musical theatre, and break-dancing.

Alongside recreational classes the club maintains several competitive teams in jazz, tap, lyrical and hip hop that represent the club in various studio level and university level dance competitions. Competitive teams are created every year based on auditions by members that take place at the end of September. Fees for competitive dancers include a $25.00 transportation fee and competition fees.

Registration takes place during Orientation Week at Brock University at the Vendor Fair in September. Anyone who is a Brock University student can join the club. The membership fee is $25.00

The club participates in several performances throughout the year and works closely with the Phys. Ed. and Kinesiology department’s dance professors. All works created within the club’s classes as well as independently choreographed works by members are showcased in a year-end recital held the third week of March. For pictures from recitals please visit the Gallery.

Brock Dance also maintains a point system amongst members to encourage participation. Members with the highest points at the end of the year receive awards.
